Their Love Story
“Our love story began on November 28th when we met for the first time at Bear Creek Park in Keller Texas. Zayne brought me a hot chocolate from Starbucks as it was particularly a cool evening. We walked around the park, asking questions and learning more about each other. We ended up sitting on a park bench watching ducks as the sun set. It was magical…
Then I decided to break his heart and go back to my old boyfriend but that didn’t last long. In December, Zayne then asked me out for another park meet up, which ended up as another magical walk through the woods at Buffalo Ridge Park.
Yet again I decided to go back to that SAME ex which again failed in early January! Zayne was persistent and asked me out again on January 13th. He picked me up in his minivan which had all decked out with a nice memory foam set up. We drove to downtown Fort Worth to walk around the Sun Dance Square, talked about our kids what we wanted out of life, out of our partners. We had a lovely time that ended up with us going to the Dallas Cowboys Gear store and him buying us Dallas Cowboys T-shirts.
Later that evening, we drove out to the Coyote Drive Inn later that evening and watched the new Jumaji Movie in which we laughed so much to. After the movie was over Zayne wrote on the inside sunroof “Best Date Ever 1/13/2018” From that day forward we had our ups and downs. We are both firm believers of God and have learned to have the strong foundation that we both desired we would need him to be the center of our relationship.
After years of ups and downs we decided to join families and on December 21 2019 Zayne proposed to me!! Life wasn’t as we were expecting it to be once March 11 2020 came around the pandemic came to full effect but we still decided that we wanted to get married in the year 2020. To dedicate our lives to God, we asked a Pastor at our Gateway church to re-baptize us! Such a wonderful experience to share that with him!
As we were talking about wedding colors, and how big we could have the wedding we were also coping with Zayne’s fathers’ illness. He was diagnosed with melanoma cancer way back in 2003. His condition had worsened and Zayne wanted his father to be in our wedding. Doctors had told us he had less than a year left, so we pushed to try and have the wedding soon as possible. Sadly, with COVID causing more issues, we had to move the wedding further ahead, at which time Zayne’s father took a turn for the worse and passed.
The months that followed were an incredibly difficult time for our families, as we coped with loss, our merging children into one home, along with the world under COVID’s rule. But, light emerged from the tunnel, as they say. We finally nailed down the date of October 10th, 2020 as our wedding day, and received approvals from our pastor and our families to come together. It also was of special importance for Zayne, as it was his father’s birthday as well. We had weeks of tough planning, and more ups and downs. But each set of challenges reinforced in us that we were right for each other. We fit beautifully in each other’s weaknesses, and helped each other grow. Our love grew stronger, and on 10/10/2020 we finally said our vows and completed an almost-3-year journey together!”
Veronica and Zayne, thank you for letting me capture such a huge day in your lives! Your intimate backyard elopement is one to remember!
